Sometimes life changes quietly, and sometimes it changes all at once.
Over the past year, my family experienced a tremendous loss. During that time, this little corner of the internet became very quiet. I simply didn’t have the energy or the heart to create. Looking back, I realized I was trying to hold onto the blog it had always been, even though I wasn’t quite the same person anymore.
I deleted a few posts that just didn’t feel like me. In a way, I did the same thing in my life. I let go of the parts that no longer fit and found my way back to myself. I became more me.
I started paying closer attention to the things that made me feel grounded again: mornings in the garden, cooking from scratch, weekend camping trips, learning more about plant-based cooking, spending time with my animals, and slowing down enough to notice the seasons changing instead of rushing through them.

These aren’t entirely new interests, they’ve always been pieces of who I am. But they’ve become more intentional. I’m finding myself choosing experiences over busy schedules, homemade meals over convenience, and simple weekends over constantly chasing the next thing.
So, Acorn & Birch is growing right alongside me.

You’ll still find recipes and DIY projects here, but you’ll also find campfire evenings, garden harvests, cozy weekends, restaurant adventures, thoughts on creating a more compassionate life, and the everyday moments that remind me to slow down.
I hope you’ll come along for this next chapter.
