Making Soap at Home is Easier Than You Think

I have been putting off making soap because I was terrified of working with lye. I finally decided I had procrastinated long enough, and it was time. I suited up in all my safety gear and dove in. It was easier than I thought, and I’ve been making a steady supply since I gave it a try.

I’m going to need some more cooling racks

I’m a bit obsessed. It’s such a cool process to watch all the ingredients become something else. Science can be fun!

Next soap with be a chamomile tea bar to help my husband with his eczema. It was also be great for sensitive skin.

Everything ready
Coconut oil
Olive oil
Add the lye into the water. I keep that in the sink in case of any spills
Oils before adding the water/lye mixture
Oil and lye/water mixing
Mixing to trace

Into the mold
3 days after making
Cut and ready to cure
